Articles in this section

Cookonut sends optional emails like monthly cooking recaps, onboarding tips, and updates about features you voted for. You can manage which emails you receive and pause them all at once if you’d like.

How to Manage Email Preferences

There are two ways to manage your email preferences:

In the Cookonut app

  1. Open Cookonut
  2. Go to the More tab
  3. Tap Email Preferences
  4. Toggle each email type on or off
  5. Tap Save to apply your changes

From an email

Every email from Cookonut includes an Unsubscribe link at the bottom. Clicking it will:

  • Immediately unsubscribe you from that email type
  • Show a page where you can manage all your email preferences

Email Types

Onboarding tips

A short email sequence during your first week to help you get the most out of Cookonut. It stops automatically after 3 emails.

Monthly cooking recap

An email sent on the 1st of each month with a summary of your cooking activity: how many recipes you added, your top recipes, cooking days, meals planned, and more.

Premium reminders

Email reminders before your Premium subscription renews or expires. You’ll also get a follow-up if your subscription has recently lapsed. This option only appears if you have or had a Premium subscription.

Monthly limit refresh

(Free plan only) An email once a month when your free 10 recipe imports refresh. Capped at 3 sends — after ~3 months on the Free plan it stops on its own. You can turn it off in Email Preferences or via the Unsubscribe link in the email.

Voted features

You’ll be emailed when a feature you voted for gets implemented.

Your ideas

You’ll be emailed when an idea you submitted is approved or shipped.

Bug fixes

You’ll be emailed when a bug you reported is fixed.

Recipe sharing

An email notification when someone shares a recipe with you through Cookonut.

Pause All Optional Emails

If you’d like to stop all optional emails at once, use the Pause all optional emails toggle at the top of the Email Preferences screen. When enabled:

  • All optional email categories are paused
  • You’ll still receive essential account emails (password resets, account security)
  • Your individual settings are preserved — when you unpause, everything goes back to how it was

Troubleshooting

Not receiving emails:

  1. Check your spam or junk folder — emails from Cookonut may end up there
  2. Make sure the corresponding toggle is on in Email Preferences
  3. Monthly recaps are sent on the 1st of each month — if you just enabled it, the first one arrives next month
  4. Onboarding tips are only sent during your first week after signing up

Receiving emails you don’t want:

  1. Click the Unsubscribe link at the bottom of any Cookonut email
  2. Or go to More > Email Preferences in the app and turn off the types you don’t want

Email Notifications Are Free

All email features are available on all plans, including the free tier.
