💡 Ideas & Feedback
If Cookonut is crashing, freezing, or not loading properly, here are the steps to get it working again. Most issues can be resolved with a few simple actions.
Quick Fixes (Try These First)
1. Close and Reopen the App
The most common fix for app issues:
On iPhone:
- Swipe up from the bottom of the screen (or double-click the Home button on older iPhones)
- Find Cookonut in the app switcher
- Swipe it up to close it completely
- Open Cookonut again from your home screen
On Android:
- Open your recent apps view (swipe up and hold, or tap the square button)
- Find Cookonut
- Swipe it away to close
- Open Cookonut again
2. Restart Your Phone
If closing the app doesn’t help, restart your device entirely. This clears temporary memory and resolves many background issues.
3. Check for App Updates
An outdated version may have bugs that have been fixed:
On iPhone:
- Open the App Store
- Tap your profile icon at the top
- Scroll down to see available updates
- If Cookonut has an update, tap Update
On Android:
- Open the Google Play Store
- Tap your profile icon
- Tap Manage apps & device
- Check if Cookonut has an update available
4. Check Your Internet Connection
Some app functions need an internet connection. If you’re having issues with importing, syncing, or signing in:
- Make sure Wi-Fi or cellular data is enabled
- Try opening a website in your browser to verify connectivity
- Switch between Wi-Fi and cellular to see if one works better
If Quick Fixes Don’t Work
Clear the App Cache
On Android:
- Go to Settings > Apps > Cookonut
- Tap Storage
- Tap Clear Cache (not “Clear Data” — that would delete local data)
- Reopen Cookonut
On iPhone: iOS doesn’t have a direct “clear cache” option. Instead, try deleting and reinstalling the app (your data is safe in the cloud — see below).
Reinstall the App
If nothing else works:
- Delete Cookonut from your device
- Reinstall it from the App Store or Google Play
- Open the app and sign in with your account
- Your recipes and data will sync from the cloud
Your data is stored in the cloud, so reinstalling won’t lose your recipes, meal plans, or settings. Everything syncs back when you sign in.
Check Device Compatibility
Make sure your device meets the minimum requirements:
- iPhone: iOS 16 or later
- Android: Android 8.0 (Oreo) or later
- Storage: Make sure you have at least 200 MB of free storage
Older devices or OS versions may experience performance issues.
Check Device Storage
If your phone is almost full, apps can behave unpredictably:
- Go to your phone’s Settings > Storage
- Check available space
- Free up space if you’re running low (delete unused apps, old photos, or cached data)
Specific Crash Scenarios
App crashes when opening a specific recipe: The recipe data may be corrupted. Try opening other recipes. If only one recipe causes a crash, contact support with the recipe name.
App crashes immediately on launch: Close and reopen, then try restarting your phone. If it persists, reinstall the app.
App freezes during import: The source page may be causing the issue. Force close the app, reopen it, and try importing from a different source.
App is very slow: Close other apps running in the background. Restart your phone. If the issue persists with a large recipe collection, try giving it a moment to finish syncing.
Reporting a Crash
If the issue persists after trying all the steps above:
- Note what you were doing when the crash occurred
- Note your device model and OS version
- Contact support with these details (see the Contact Support article)
We investigate every crash report to improve app stability.
Tips
- Keep the app updated — we regularly release fixes and improvements
- Restart your phone occasionally — it clears accumulated memory issues
- Don’t worry about data loss — your data is in the cloud, so reinstalling is always safe
Thanks for your feedback! We're glad it helped.
