💡 Ideas & Feedback
Here’s what you need to run Cookonut on your Android device.
Minimum Requirements
- Operating system: Android 8.0 (Oreo) or later
- Google Play Services: required for account sign-in and sync
- Storage: approximately 100 MB for the app itself
- Internet: required for account creation, recipe imports, and data sync
Compatible Devices
Cookonut works on phones and tablets running Android 8.0 (Oreo) or later. This covers the vast majority of Android devices sold in recent years. If your device can run Google Play Store and has Google Play Services installed, it should run Cookonut without issues.
To check your Android version, go to Settings → About Phone (or About Tablet) and look for Android version.
Google Play Services
Cookonut requires Google Play Services for:
- Account authentication (sign in with Google or email)
- Cloud sync
- Push notifications
Most Android devices come with Google Play Services pre-installed. If your device doesn’t have it (some regional or custom-ROM devices), Cookonut may not function properly.
Storage
The app takes about 100 MB to install. Your recipe collection uses additional storage — recipes with photos need more space than text-only recipes. A collection of 100 recipes with photos typically uses 200–400 MB total.
You can check available storage in Settings → Storage.
Internet Connection
An internet connection (Wi-Fi or mobile data) is needed for:
- Creating your account and signing in
- Importing recipes (AI processing happens in the cloud)
- Syncing data between devices
- Upgrading to Premium
Offline Access
Once your recipes are synced, you can use most features without internet:
- Browse and view saved recipes
- Use cooking mode with timers
- View your meal plan and grocery list
- Search your collection
Changes made offline sync automatically when you reconnect.
How to Check for Android Updates
To make sure your device meets the requirements:
- Open Settings
- Tap System → System update (path may vary by manufacturer)
- If an update is available, follow the prompts to install it
Keeping your Android version up to date ensures the best performance and compatibility with Cookonut.
Thanks for your feedback! We're glad it helped.
